ABOUT DR. APRIL
I am the Doctor of Intimacy. I am a Relationship Therapist, Author, and Podcast Host that specializes in couples counseling through Gottman, intimacy and sex therapy, relationship trauma through EMDR, anxiety, depression, and emotional support animals. My credentials included Licensed Mental Health Christian Counselor; Board Certified-TeleMental Health Provider; Certified Sex Therapist; a National Certified Counselor, Gottman Trained Therapist – Level 1, 2, and 3; American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapist (AASECT); EMDRIA-Approved EMDR Therapist, and a Florida Qualified Supervisor. I have a thriving private practice in Cape Coral and Sarasota called Cape Coral Therapists/Therapists in Sarasota, Florida and a couples retreat business called Vacation Counseling in Florida and Costa Rica. In addition, I have a podcast called Bringing Intimacy Back. I am also the author of the Improving Intimacy book series available on Amazon and intimacy quizzes called Partner Intimacy Quiz and Personal Intimacy Quiz. I hold a Master’s and a Specialist degree in Counseling and Human Systems and a Doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology.
I specialize in multiple areas which include (1) couples seeking marriage/relationship counseling to strengthen their bonds, gain a better understanding, resolve conflicts, and improve their relationship; (2) individuals struggling with trauma, intimacy, spirituality, anxiety, and depression; (3) providing emotional animal support (ESA) documentation when needed.
