About me
I am an experienced therapist who works with children and their caregivers to learn emotional coping skills as they deal with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, ADHD, and parent-child conflict.
I completed my Bachelor's and Master's degrees after my youngest child entered high school and began my career as a therapist 7 years ago. I enjoy working with children ages 5-12 years old, who deal with a variety of issues, including trauma, grief, anger issues, depression, anxiety and/or ADHD. Therapy goals of children may include staying out of trouble with their parents or teachers. Parents often want to reduce angry outbursts and increase compliance of their children. Both children and parents look to therapy to help develop skills to manage emotions and improve relationships.
I focus on working with children and their parents using the modalities of CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), ARC (Attachment, Self-regulation, Competency), Parent Child-Care, art and play therapy. These modalities help parents and children manage emotions and connect in healing and healthy ways.
My goal as a therapist is to provide a safe and healing environment to help children and their parents deal with their challenges. My approach to therapy centers on creating a genuine, positive relationship between therapist and clients to help healing occur. I use creative activities, such as art projects and play, to help children express themselves.
