About me
Greetings! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker licensed in the state of Indiana.
Entering into a counseling relationship can be a scary thing for many people. Some folks are hesitant about therapy, perhaps based on past experiences. Others are considering therapy for the first time, and they don’t know what to expect from their counselor nor have any idea of what might be expected of themselves. Whatever your background, I applaud you for taking a first step and inquiring about counseling.
I graduated from Plymouth State University in Plymouth, New Hampshire with a bachelor’s degree in Social Work. I received my master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I have been a practicing Social Worker for approximately 12 years.
My approach begins with conversations that are aimed at establishing trust and confidence. We will work together to identify strengths, skills and concerns and develop a real-life proactive strategy that is natural and workable. I believe that this strengths-based approach creates a solid foundation for a therapy program that is client-owned, forward looking, and sustainable.
Expertise-wise, I have worked in many different treatment settings, including hospitals, emergency rooms, outpatient therapy centers, and domestic violence shelters. These experiences have prepared me to effectively assist clients who struggle with a variety of concerns, including stress, anxiety, depression, trauma and abuse, grief and loss, disability issues, and more.
My personal treatment style is warm, empathic, interactive, culturally sensitive and client centered. I’m a good listener. I have a great sense of humor and I enjoy laughing…mostly at myself.
My hobbies include sewing, knitting, traveling, writing, and developing courses for my Coaching business. The mountains and the ocean invigorate me and are an important part of my self-care.
I look forward to working with you and I am hoping that we can partner in achieving your goals. Welcome to my practice!
