About me
Do you want to feel heard? Would you like someone to listen - without judgment, without defining your experience for you, and without telling you how to think and feel about your unique experiences? I support clients living with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and those struggling to find peace in the present by gaining resolution of the past. I also work with people dealing with unexpected upsets in life that sometimes require just a few sessions to process.
After we decide that my approach is the best fit for you, we will work together respectfully in safe space while you progress at your own pace. At the first meeting, clients often have difficulty articulating why they want therapy and what they hope to accomplish. No worries - we will riff it out together to clarify goals and then determine how I can best support you. My therapeutic orientation is existentialist; I believe that feelings of distress emerge both from uncertainty of the future and perceived immutability of the past. My eclectic palette includes CBT, MCBT, DBT, SFBT, and insight oriented techniques, and I am actively training in new modalities. My background in empirical psychology research informs my clinical approach. I have experience working in a private group psychiatric practice and have been a visiting lecturer at Bryant University for part of the Psychiatry portion of the Physician Assistant program there. In order to gain hospital experience, I worked as a per diem clinician in the Butler Hospital ED during the covid-19 pandemic from 2020 - 2021. The name of my practice was inspired by yin yoga. Yin style embraces stillness in its poses in order to reach deep connective tissue, just as a chrysalis provides stillness and support for the transformation into butterfly. In session, you will be supported with Rogerian empathy, genuineness, unconditional positive regard...and occasional irreverence.
