About me

I specialize in helping individuals who grew up with emotionally immature, unavailable or overly reactive parents break free from the weight of the past and I'm dedicated to helping you create the life you deserve. Our work together will help you grow from surviving life to thriving.

Hi, I’m Amber. I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (WA) and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (MT) and the founder of Guided Growth Mental Wellness. I help individuals who feel stuck, anxious, or weighed down by the past find clarity, confidence, and a deeper sense of peace, connection and purpose. Many of the clients I work with grew up with emotionally unavailable or unpredictable parents and now struggle with self-doubt, people-pleasing, or challenges in relationships. I want you to know that the ways you learned to cope aren’t failures—they were survival strategies that worked for you when you needed them. Now, you have the power and autonomy to choose something different. Together, we will work to understand how those early experiences shaped you—and how you can break free from old patterns that no longer serve you to find the peace and clarity you've been searching for.

Throughout my 16 year career and prior to opening my practice, I have been fortunate to have diverse experiences that have equipped me to help my clients navigate a variety of concerns. In addition to working with adults, I have worked extensively with adolescents and young adults from the age of 13+. I have also worked extensively with service members and their families and have experience in effectively providing treatment on a variety of concerns including depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, work-life balance, attachment, family of origin/adverse childhood experiences, parenting, relationship/family conflict, domestic violence, sexual assault, parenting, grief/loss and life transitions, as well as deployments, separations and general military life stressors.

My approach is strengths based, warm, honest, collaborative, empowering and grounded in compassion with a mix of challenging but gentle encouragement when needed. In our sessions, you’ll find a supportive space where you can slow down, reconnect with yourself, and learn practical tools to manage stress, build boundaries, feel more grounded and connected as you create meaningful, lasting change and take back control of your life. I believe growth happens at your own pace, and therapy is about helping you feel more empowered, balanced, and aligned with the life you want to live.

Therapy isn't a one size fits all approach, so depending on your presenting concern and current coping around your experiences, therapeutic interventions utilized may vary throughout our work together. This is generally referred to as an integrative or eclectic approach to therapy. My driving philosophy in my work with clients is rooted in the belief that people are the experts on their own lives and experiences, and as such, my foundational framework in my work with clients is person centered and relational. I also draw from other modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), all through a culturally sensitive and trauma informed lens.

Reaching out for help isn’t always easy—and yet, here you are. Choosing to begin therapy is a sign of courage. It is an act of self care and growth.
It means you’re ready to invest in yourself and grow toward greater peace and clarity and create meaningful, lasting change. It can sometimes feel overwhelming with knowing where to start, but I want you to know that you don’t have to have everything figured out to start—just a willingness to take the next step toward the life you deserve. I'm committed to creating a safe and compassionate space, where we'll walk the healing journey together. I'll see you in therapy!
