About me
I help people who overperform in relationships reclaim their time, energy, sense of self, and peace.
Tired of doing "the most?" Using expertise in adoption, attachment, non-traditional relationships, grief, trauma, emotional abuse, and anxiety/OCD, I help people who over-perform in relationships enjoy life on their own terms. Whether you over-perform for - a parent, partner, boss, or friends - there's a valid reason. Maybe you're avoiding abandonment, loss, criticism, or other bad things. Maybe you want to feel security, worthy, belonging, and in-control of stress. Maybe you don't want to, you just feel like you HAVE to. Many people, especially women, LGBTQIA+, and adopted people like me, over-perform to the point of exhaustion.
I am credentialed in anxiety, narcissistic abuse, and codependency treatment and am certified in trauma and grief. I'm so passionate about what I do, I've been teaching it at colleges for years and at my very own private teaching clinic. I have lived through many of the same challenges as my clients. I treat everyone with the same care I myself have needed.
I have over 12 years experience and am licensed in both PA and DE. I hold multiple qualifications or certifications in various therapies including EMDR, Trauma Focused CBT, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. Pulling from my knowledge, skills, and our shared values, I integrate the most fitting parts of my skillset into a therapeutic space that is customized and comfortable to you. We'll work together as partners to address your needs while giving respect your own inner wisdom and independence. We'll also make sure to recognize and address larger interpersonal, social, or systemic issues that affect your wellbeing.
As a queer adopted person who has experienced mental health and relationship challenges personally, I value serving my communities, both inside and outside of the therapy room, from a place of empathy, respect, and lived experience.
I won't tell you to cut your family off, break up, or quit your job (unless you want me to). You may already feel controlled enough by people, circumstances, oppression, stereotypes or impossible choices in your life - you don't need it come from your therapist. You have so many skills and I want to help you use them for you. I'm here when you're ready.
