About me
I am an experienced therapist who is dedicated to helping adults, adolescents and couples feel more connected to themselves, those around them, and the world.
For most of my adult life, I was a stay-at-home mom – caring for our four girls and volunteering in the community. Through one of my volunteer roles, we met our now son.
The experience of adopting an older child introduced me to the subjects of attachment and trauma. I became intrigued by the role that connection plays in so many areas of life and read everything I could get my hands on to understand better how to parent my son in a way that fostered secure attachment.
As my children grew older and my nest emptied, I decided to follow my interest in trauma, attachment, and mental health, pursuing a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the College of William and Mary.
I didn’t know how much I would love being a therapist. I genuinely enjoy connecting with clients from various backgrounds and different walks of life who find their way into my office with their unique struggles.
I seek training that speaks to my interest in attachment and trauma and applies to various struggles I see in the therapy room. I am EMDR-trained and have additional training in Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy for Trauma, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Perinatal Mental Care, and Adoption Competency.
As soon as you walk through the door of the Nest Counseling Center, you can’t help but feel warm, calm, and supported. It is a place you can look forward to, intentionally decorated to help you feel welcomed and deserving of a beautiful and peaceful space.
Therapy with me is all about connecting with me in the therapeutic relationship, with yourself, and with those around you.
No matter where you are or how stuck you feel, we will work together to help you move toward a life with purpose and joy. As you let go of judgment and begin to accept all parts of yourself (even those you have kept hidden), you will feel lighter and have a sense of movement again.
