Amanda Buckner, LPC

I am a licensed professional counselor with over 20 years of experience serving children, adolescents, and families in the New River Valley. I offer individual counseling, and specialize in a person-centered, trauma-informed approach tailored to each client’s needs.

I’m a Virginia native with a lifelong passion for supporting others on their healing journeys. Over the years, I’ve worked in residential treatment, intensive in-home services, school-based counseling, and program supervision. For more than a decade, I served as a school-based clinician in Floyd County, working closely with students and families to navigate life’s challenges. I recently started my own business and practice cooperatively with two other women in downtown Floyd, VA.

My therapeutic style blends empathy, humor, and evidence-based practices including CBT, DBT, mindfulness, interpersonal therapy, and EMDR. I strive to create a safe and supportive space where clients feel seen, heard, and empowered to grow.

Outside of my work, I enjoy spending time with my family, baking, listening to music, and being in nature. Gardening brings me peace and fulfillment—much like the work I do in helping others grow through life’s seasons.

Recently, I took the leap to open my own practice—a dream that’s both exciting and a little scary. I’m grateful to be part of a cooperative alliance with other dedicated women in the field. I’m currently accepting adolescent and adult clients and plan to offer group therapy in the future. I also serve as a board-approved Clinical Supervisor for individuals pursuing licensure in professional counseling.
