About me
Marriage and Family Therapist Associate Supervised by Dr Gena St David
Anxiety, OCD, and Couples Counseling.
My job is to help you change your neural pathways. I think of counseling like physical therapy, but for the brain, emotions, and relationship patterns. You are coming to see me for a different experience than you can get at home. Frequently people leaving sessions with me say they feel like they just had an emotional work out.
To provide this immersive experience I stay abreast of current evidence based trainings to foster the highest degree of change for people experiencing Anxiety and OCD. By synthesizing Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Internal Family System Therapy, and The Satir Model, I help people get in touch with all of their senses, emotions, thoughts, expectations, and longings. Together we untangle the knot they have formed which is manifesting as symptoms for you.
Additionally over half of my practice is couples. I have experience with helping couples relearn how to connect as one person heals their Anxiety, OCD, Co-dependency, or Addiction. I have also helped many couples reconnect after an affair, even stronger than they were before. Some couples have not been through a "major" stressor, but know something is just "off". I can help you navigate this delicate situation, bringing about insight into patterns which are no longer serving you and help you collaborate to discover new patterns which will.
Lastly, some couples don't even know if they want couples counseling...or their relationship anymore. I hold space for this by offering up to 5 sessions of Discernment Counseling. The goal is to obtain clarity and confidence about how to move forward, either together or separately.
