About me
I am a seasoned therapist of over 20 years and am capable of addressing anything you bring if you are willing to enter this relationship with me. I specialize specifically in trauma, but have worked with clients from many ethnic backgrounds, groups, populations and special needs. With multiple years of working in inpatient psychiatric settings, I am experienced enough and comfortable enough to address any need that you may bring. I want therapy to be something you look forward to. I want it to be your safe space where you feel free enough to share things you've been thinking, but are afraid to say out loud. I am not a robot therapist and do not place myself above others just because I am the therapist and they are the client. I recognize that we are all human and we all struggle. I often tell clients, "we are all in this together" and everyone, at some point needs help navigating this thing we call life.
I have extensive clinical experience with all ages from 5 yrs old up to 100. I have a history of working with victims of violence and sexual assault and am well trained in Domestic Violence intervention and Counseling.
I am also a free spirit and try to make the therapy experience as painless as possible. When you come to my office, often you will be offered snacks and definitely coffee or hot chocolate. My office is also a cozy comfortable environment where both adults and children can feel safe and secure. I am invested in my clients and their well-being and would describe myself as a therapist who goes the extra mile to facilitate your wellness.
Throughout my career, I have spent many years working in in- patient psychiatric facilities with children, adolescents, and adults. I have also spent many years working with people who have severe mental illness and am comfortable and knowledgeable regarding difficult clinical decisions.
As for me personally, I am an avid animal lover and mom, and believe that if you enjoy animals, they are amazing for anxiety reduction and mental health. I am also trained in various trauma therapies, including TFCBT and EMDR. Treatment is always tailored to my clients and their specific needs.
