Alex Frank, LMFT

Welcome! My name is Alex, and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist located in Santa Monica, CA. I specialize in working with adults, teens and couples dealing with anxiety, depression and the stress of life transitions within relationships, and the struggle of coping issues such as substance abuse. I consider it an honor to join my clients in their journey, to facilitate increased insight into their struggles and together create a new narrative and a better life!

My therapy style is adaptive: I draw initially from traditional training in psychodynamic theory including attachment formed in childhood. But you are the expert of you. And so I strive to create a nonjudgemental non-hierarchal space where you feel empowered to try a suggested approach and then inform me if you want to go in a new direction - which I will of course respect. Some of my clients favor my use of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for shorter term treatment with a specific goal in mind, whereas you might respond better to interpersonal (IPT) or trauma-focused work. With my couples, I primarily draw from my training in with the Gottman method. I look forward to getting to know you and helping you heal and expand your potential in the way that works best for you :)
