About me

I help adults who feel stuck, break out of unhelpful cycles and build a life of their choosing.

Reaching out to a therapist can be challenging. Especially when life has already become overwhelming. When you reach out, I will do my best to make the experience comfortable. If you are struggling with feeling stuck, empty, or misunderstood give me a call or shoot me a message today. Using a trauma-informed approach, I can work with you to break out of unhelpful cycles and build a life of your choosing.

I believe in utilizing practices that encourage productive self-reflection and build motivation for positive change. Using a trauma-informed approach, I empower clients to work through obstacles and build a life they don't need to escape from.

Many of my clients come to therapy feeling stuck in unhelpful patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving. Self-awareness can be frustrating. How often do you see yourself doing something that you know isn’t good for you but feel powerless to stop it?

This can happen when certain elements of our being are so deeply ingrained that our body is conditioned to respond to situations in a certain way. Typically this form of responding was necessary during childhood, but is no longer helpful.

I believe that unresolved childhood traumas impact us in more ways than we realize. It shows up in our relationships, how we care for ourselves, and the decisions we make. Sometimes, trauma memories randomly pop up in dreams or as intrusive thoughts.

Escapism can provide temporarily relief from the pain. This can look like workaholism, alcohol abuse, risky sex, compulsive shopping, getting lost in video games, excessive use of internet pornography, or even just staring at the wall for hours.

Relying on escapism to cope can lead to all sorts of problems in life. This may look like being disconnected in relationships, struggling to keep up with basic self-care practices, and procrastinating on important tasks.

In addition to all of that, there is also the inevitable natural consequences of whatever vice we choose. For example, financial stress from excessive spending or gambling.

I work with clients to get to the root of the challenges they face. Using a combination of insight-oriented and skill building, I empower clients to to break out of unhelpful cycles and create sustainable change.

With over 6 years of experience helping individuals heal from unresolved childhood traumas, I specialize in treating conditions resulting from a wide range of traumatic experiences, including sexual abuse. I understand the complexity of childhood trauma and the different ways it can cause problems for us in adulthood.

My trauma-informed approach allows me to use a variety of different techniques to best suit your individual needs and empower you along your journey. Moving at a pace that is comfortable for you, we can take a closer look at what is working for you and what may no longer be serving you. As we process the different concerns and themes that come to the surface, you may feel lighter, more at peace with yourself and more present in your relationships.
