About me
I am a experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have worked in mental health since 2010. I have always known I wanted to help others but did not know how. As a child my family received services from a social worker as a result of this experience I developed my natural desire to help others. My first job as an adult was working for the Department of Children Services and with foster care. After this life happened and I took time to rear children and manage a marriage. I never gave up on my personal goal of helping others. I returned to school after my children were adults after my husband passed and after the age of 40. I believe that there is a time and a season for everything. I have spent my time preparing myself for this season. I excelled in acquiring academic knowledge as well as hands-on training. I continue to acquire knowledge in mental health to be able to provide an array of services inpatient as well as outpatient, children through geriatrics.
Being a therapist motivates and gives me purpose. Everyone experiences life changes, but not everyone is prepared to manage the emotional, physical, social or financial changes that come with life changes. Feelings emotionally overwhelmed can affect the ability to make rational decisions. The inability to make rational decisions disrupts connection with self, reality, family and friends. As a Licensed Clinical social worker I am licensed to diagnose and treat. You are not alone and should never feel you are. I practice in an outpatient setting. My passion is helping patients move from a place of despair to optimism.
My ability to help others comes from personal life experience, formal and informal education, and the desire to help. I use researched based therapeutic methods to strengthen and empower you to be able to problem solve and face challenges independently. I am always seeking additional training to increase my knowledge and expand my scope of service.
I cannot tell you I am going to cure your mental health issues, but I am willing to work with you where you are able to make rational decisions and feel hopeful about your future An unsettled mind caused by life events can contribute to anxiety, stress, and depression, which are symptomatic of many mental health disorders.
