Tammy hopes to help people change their behaviors to change their outcomes. Her goal is to instill the ‘science of hope and wellness’ in her clients for them to succeed in creating the lives they envision for themselves.
After earning my two master’s degrees, I served on the Social Work Advisory Council and Curriculum Advisory Committee at University of Mary Hardin-Baylor for 11 years, where I was actively involved in projects focused on helping undergraduate Social Work students succeed in the program. I continued to work as a clinician and Outpatient Program Manager for facilities focused on substance abuse and mental health treatment, until 2019 when I became the Substance Abuse Director for Clinical and Forensic Mental Health. There I focused on outpatient treatment for the Federal Bureau of Prisons Probation, Pre-trial Services, and Parole. In my private practice I continue my forensic work with Veterans Court, Drug Court, and the Federal Court System.
Based on my extensive experience in field of substance abuse treatment, I was asked to teach my first Substance Abuse class at TAMUCT as adjunct faculty in 2019. I enjoyed my teaching experience so much so that I proposed to teach the Forensic Social Work Seminar to students for Summer 2020. I hoped the class would create an interest in the field and provide an opportunity to share my invaluable practical work experience. I am now focusing on providing telehealth consulting services for substance abuse and mental health clients as well as pursuing more adjunct teaching opportunities.
