I am an EMDR-trained therapist committed to helping teens and adults build meaning, joy, self-acceptance, and connection. I specialize in working with trauma, PTSD and CPTSD, anxiety and depression, shame, and loneliness.
Most of us carry around stories about who we are and who we should be without really knowing how we got them or if we want to keep them. Therapy is a place to gently explore and unpack these narratives. My clients want to like and understand themselves more, have better relationships, and feel more hope and possibility in their lives. They are determined and brave, but often have been trying things that aren't working or leave them more stuck. I believe every person has an innate capacity to heal, but sometimes trauma and life experiences can block those pathways and make life feel narrow and small.
My practice is person-centered, warm, respectful, appropriately direct, and collaborative. We co-create the content and direction of each session, and I'll ask you at times if we are doing the work you want to be doing. Broadly, our work will entail exploring new ways of being, thinking, and connecting with yourself and others. We might explore your past and seek to find greater acceptance, self-compassion, and meaning.
Therapy is a space where you can share your story and struggles with another being and expect to be met with empathy, curiosity, care, and presence. It is a relationship we build together. I will listen deeply, share with you what I think I understand, collaborate with you in your goals, witness your process, and offer guidance, direction, and skills that I think will facilitate further growth and healing. Ultimately, I hope that therapy leaves you with a greater sense of possibility in your life and freedom to choose paths that serve you.
I particularly love working with teens and young adults, women, and people in any stage of exploring their gender or sexual identity. I am both nonbinary and queer as well.
I am a feminist and relational therapist, meaning that I position our work together within a greater cultural context of power and difference that influences how you might relate to me and vice versa. I work within the lens of attachment and trauma-informed therapies, including Internal Family Systems therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Multicultural therapy, developmental research, and neurocognitive approaches.
I currently have openings for both in-person and telehealth appointments. I would be delighted to hear from you!
