About me
I am an experienced trauma-focused psychotherapist working with adults of all ages who are struggling with emotional distress and behaviors which are negatively impacting their daily lives. I also specialize in chronic illness and medical trauma, with a wide array of tools and treatment options to develop a personalized plan for each of my clients, including Pain Reprocessing Therapy.
Our minds and bodies are not well designed for many of the stresses we face in daily life today. It is not unusual to go through periods where your normal coping skills just aren’t enough. Depression, anxiety, grief and anger can negatively affect your relationships, your work and your ability to live your best life. As a therapist, I support people on their journey of managing and mastering their challenges with painful thoughts and feelings and improving their quality of life.
My approach to therapy is centered in compassion and creating a judgement-free space of safety and support for us to do this work. Within this space, I will help you find ways to reduce your symptoms and distress and find solutions for yourself, using a range of skills and techniques. There is no “one size fits all” answer to anyone’s problems as we are all unique individuals. I use techniques from CBT, DBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness and somatic (body centered) therapies with a solution focused approach, so that we are always working towards your goals.
I have extensive experience working in the medical field with people experiencing chronic and life threatening illnesses as well mental health conditions. Working with the relationship between body and mind, the way in which emotions affect the physical body and how physical symptoms affect the way you think and feel, we can reduce the distress and burden of illness and find new ways that you can experience joy and a sense of meaning and purpose at any stage of life or health.
I am also trained in ART Therapy (Accelerated Resolution Therapy), an evidence based practice uniquely designed to address traumatic memories using a voluntary memory/image replacement technique which changes the way memories are stored in the brain. Grounded in neuroscience, this treatment can substantially reduce the physical and emotional response to triggers and memories and help you live a healthier and happier life.
