Shawn Montoya, MA, LMFT
Verified clinicians have had their licenses confirmed by our staff at the time they create their profile. We also require all verified therapists keep their licensing information up to date in order to maintain verified status.
Send your prospective therapist a brief message about why you’re seeking support, your preference for in-person or telehealth services, and how you’d like to be contacted moving forward. Note: Answers to many common questions can be found on the therapist’s profile page. If this is an emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest hospital.
My experience includes working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships issues, self-esteem issues, and mood disorders. I have worked with children, teens, families, and couples to learn to communicate better with one another, develop healthy boundaries, and create a harmonious home environment. I began my journey in the field of mental health over ten years ago and have since then worked with children diagnosed with autism, individuals experiencing homelessness and/or severe mental illness, college students, and the underserved communities in Orange County. I am a culturally sensitive therapist with a Strengths Based, Psychodynamic, and Cognitive Behavioral approach.
Although we come from many different walks of life, I believe our journeys do not have to be navigated through alone. My goal is to work together with you in discovering who you once were, who you are now, and who and where you want to be. I believe we can learn to control our thoughts and emotions in order to find peace and empowerment. This requires gaining an understanding of our past and how people, events, and circumstances have shaped us as well as the challenges we are currently facing. In this journey of self-discovery, I hope to provide my clients with a non-judgmental and supportive safe space while focusing on developing genuine trust and connection. My passion is to foster and support individuals in their journey towards personal growth and finding balance, self-compassion, and fulfillment.
