Shaun Fischler, Licensed Professional and Addiction Counselor
Verified clinicians have had their licenses confirmed by our staff at the time they create their profile. We also require all verified therapists keep their licensing information up to date in order to maintain verified status.
Send your prospective therapist a brief message about why you’re seeking support, your preference for in-person or telehealth services, and how you’d like to be contacted moving forward. Note: Answers to many common questions can be found on the therapist’s profile page. If this is an emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest hospital.
I want you to think of online counseling with me as a self-exploration journey, where you get to work on cultivating the life you want. I work with adults who are dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use concerns.
I will work with you on developing realistic and sustainable goals, and to help you identify how you can empower yourself in your day-to-day life. I will listen, offer input, and be present for you. I am humanistic in my approach, so more than anything I value getting to know you and understand your concerns so we can co-create a plan that fits for you. Therapy can help you explore just about any life problem, with possible goals of attaining greater mental clarity around your life, increasing your self-confidence, improving connection with your partner or friends, reducing or eliminating substance/behavioral addictions, and experiencing greater levels of acceptance over upsetting situations.
I am a member of the American Counseling Association, Colorado Counseling Association, and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. Over my career I have had the opportunity to work with diverse clientele, including veterans, stay-at-home parents, retirees, GLBTQ, corporate professionals, and many others. I am trained in treatment approaches such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Person-Centered Therapy, for a wide array of concerns mentioned above.
One thing you should know about me is that I am critical of the medical model as it relates to mental wellbeing, since this system has a tendency to over-pathologize normal responses to stressful life events. As a consequence to this model of care, we are in an overmedicated society, where we have been taught that pills are solutions to complex issues. I will never judge anyone if they decide to take psychotropic medication; I will, however, encourage you to research and understand the impact medication has on your mind and body since doctor's too often skim over this information in their brief visits with you. It is possible that medication is what will help you to move forward in life, and as long as you are comfortable with the medication and what it is doing to and for you, that is what matters.
If what I have said resonates with you, please contact me and we can get an initial consult scheduled.
