I am a Clinical Psychologist and a Registered Play Therapist who works with children and their families.

As a Clinical Psychologist and Registered Play Therapist, I use cognitive-behavioral, play therapy, art therapy, and mindfulness techniques to help clients achieve better mental health. Having been licensed for twenty-two years, I have worked extensively with children who present with anxiety, depression, a history of trauma including post-traumatic stress disorder, attention deficit, obsessive-compulsive disorder, autism, grief issues, and behavioral concerns.

During treatment, the goal is to help clients improve their communication skills, identify stressors, increase their self-confidence, make healthier life choices, and improve their interpersonal relationships. Play therapy is very effective for helping clients reach these goals.

I have a strong background in Attachment theory and have worked with numerous families to help resolve parent-child relational issues or concerns. I have particular expertise in working with adoptive families.

In addition to therapy, I conduct psychological and psychoeducational evaluations or assessments for children ages 6 through 16. Psychological testing can help determine if certain syndromes or disorders are present, such as Autism Spectrum Disorders, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, or Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder. Psychological testing can be useful when trying to determine the potential causes of your child's social, behavioral, emotional, or learning difficulties. Some tests take 15 minutes to administer while others can take up to 2 hours. Some tests consist of a questionnaire while others require interaction with the child. After the psychological or psychoeducational assessment is complete, parents receive a thorough written report that details the test results and provides recommendations that address the areas of concern. This report can provide useful information not only to parents, but to teachers, therapists, and family physicians for years to come. (Note: I do not conduct custody, substance abuse, or legal system evaluations.)
