Sharmaine D Barnes, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
Verified clinicians have had their licenses confirmed by our staff at the time they create their profile. We also require all verified therapists keep their licensing information up to date in order to maintain verified status.
Send your prospective therapist a brief message about why you’re seeking support, your preference for in-person or telehealth services, and how you’d like to be contacted moving forward. Note: Answers to many common questions can be found on the therapist’s profile page. If this is an emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest hospital.
I am an experienced racial trauma specialist who specializes in treating racial stress and trauma. I also specialize in treating anxiety, depression, grief, life adjustments, acute stress disorder, other traumas and PTSD. I have an MA Degree in Marital and Family Therapy with a specialization in African-American Family Studies. I provide individual therapy to adult individuals only and am not providing couples or family therapy at this time.
I'm a genuinely happy person. I smile and laugh a lot and believe it's important to find humor in life and not take ourselves too seriously. I'm encouraging and supportive. I'm spiritual and keep it real. I use EMDR, IFS, and CPT to treat trauma. I also use a lot of mindfulness activities and CBT-informed interventions in my practice. Therapy services are provided by video only and available to California residents only.
