About me
I am an experienced licensed professional counseling specializing in somatic work for trauma recovery, grief and loss/fear of death, and recovery for individual and families of substance abuse. I use a mind and body approach that incorporates spirituality from a depth psychology lens.
Hi and Welcome! I am Sarah Humphreys, the Founder and Clinical Director of Sacred and Free, LLC. I am happy that you have either intentionally found Sacred and Free or you have stumbled upon us. Whatever brings you, you are welcome here.
The cornerstone of my practice is the understanding that deep meaningful connection is the heart of both healing and living well. The roadmap I use to allow that to come to fruition is based in two other wholehearted beliefs:
We are born into this world enough, exactly as we are. Period. I don’t need to meet you to know that you were too. Many times we need to peel back the veils formed by experiences and events in our lives that made us believe otherwise. I find that “unlearning” those things help to uncover the truest parts of ourselves. This is a powerfully transformative process and one I will enjoy being in with you every step of the way.
Our bodies give us an incredible amount of information that we often don’t realize it is holding onto for us. We need the information from our mind and body in order to allow what needs to leave us to leave, and what needs to stay with us, to stay. I hope to share with you how to listen to the connection between your mind and your body and how to use it to enhance your intuition. I find this allows us to experience wholeness.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. In addition to a wide array of mood disorders, I am a certified specialist in the treatments of Addiction, Complex Trauma, Health Psychology, Grief/Loss and the death and dying process for patients and their families. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Temple University and Master of Science in Clinical and Counseling Health Psychology from The Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine where my studies focused on the use of evidenced-based treatment modalities for the mind and body.
My osteopathic training in health psychology afforded me experience with the brain-mind-body connection and the ability to teach it to my patients. After deciding to face my own fear of death and trauma recovery, I obtained a post-masters certification from Chestnut Hill College where my studies were focused on the treatment of trauma and bereavement.
Over the course of seventeen years in the field my experience opened the door for extensive work on the mind-body and spiritual connection in mental health. While I do not subscribe nor tout any specific religious affiliation, I will always offer exploration of individual spirituality from a Depth /Integrative Psychology perspective for those who are interested.
I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings over the course of my career. Serving as both the Clinical Coordinator and Program Development Coordinator for Eagleville Hospital in Montgomery County, PA, I executed both administrative and clinical supervisory roles. I have extensive experience in providing clinical supervision and simply adore working with other clinicians in both a therapist-patient relationship or separately in a supervisory capacity.
I use a person-centered individualized approach to treatment incorporating mixed modality technique as needed for the best quality treatment. I work primary with adults, and on occasion with children ages 8 and up, I work in individual, couples, families and group settings.
I offer drug and alcohol evaluations, workshops, and family therapy for families of addiction and those either facing or wanting to face end of life discussions.
