About me
I am an integrative therapist who will help you harness the superpower of emotional experiences to form a deeper connection with yourself, and heal through difficult experiences, including trauma, disordered eating and mood dysregulation.
My roots as an artist and mental health advocate have led to me becoming a social justice-fuelled mental health counselor. I graduated from New York University with a dual Master of Arts degree in Mental Health and LGBTQ* Affirmative counseling. I also have a certification in Expressive Arts-Based therapy, which includes visual art, dance and movement. New York City is the fourth city in the third country I call home. I channel my multicultural lived experience and creative energies into therapy to create an authentic space where client and counselor meet as equals and collaborators. I identify as part of the Pandemic Cohort (graduated in 2021!) and formally entered this profession in the midst of a global crisis. This has allowed me to develop an expanded sense of empathy, ability for grief work and a sense of humor that is more social lubricant and less defense mechanism.
A two-time TEDx speaker, I was invited to participate in the inaugural Obama Foundation Summit for her community mental health work, which I later had the honor to present to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (Kate and Will!). I recognize the unique complexity that makes us human and take an integrative approach to therapy based on the client’s personality, needs and goals towards healing. These include, but are not limited to AEDP (accelerated emotional dynamic psychotherapy), ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy), REBT (rational emotive behavioral therapy), narrative therapy and emotion-focused therapy (EFT). I practice through a multicultural feminist social justice lens. I embody deep hope in the human processes of growth and transformation, and work to create a therapeutic experience that is as fun and empowering as it is insightful and emotionally cathartic.
I am a member of the American Psychological Association and working towards certification in AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy), which seeks to further global mental health research. You can find me ensconced in a book or amidst a plethora of art supplies in her spare time, ceaselessly engaging in the magic of imagination.
