We can do hard things. Especially when not alone. I provide a nonjudgmental safe space that allows for the pursuit of wellness. I am a holistic Licensed Professional Counselor who provides services to children, adolescents, adults, families and couples, who is dedicated to client's self-esteem development and relationships improvement.

About my clients:
From painful traumas, grief and loss, relationships issues, parenting challenges, marriage disconnection, to anxiety and depression, we all experience challenges at some point in life that may disconnect us from our true selves. Growing and becoming the best version of ourselves requires work and attention as it may not come naturally. Every person is different, while respecting your uniqueness, I look forward to sharing my knowledge and to hold your hand towards authenticity.

My background and approach:
I treat adults, adolescents, children, families, couples, and groups. I offer sessions in English, Portuguese, and Spanish. After getting a Bachelor’s in Psychology, I decided to get a Master’s in mental health counseling to be experienced in both approaches. What makes me passionate about being a Professional Counselor, is that we are trained to bring clients towards wellness, or towards living the best life they can holistically live in the present moment. I use evidence-based modalities that are scientifically proven to help improving mental health. Being trauma informed, I include developmental experiences in therapy. Clients will learn how to use tools towards having better relationships with family friends and partners, to lower anxiety and depression, and to find awareness within themselves to maintain emotional regulation. At the end, my clients describe having a stronger sense of self and the ability to maintain calmness during difficult times.

My personal beliefs and interests:
I have a strong belief in the innate human ability to heal and to strive to become the best version of oneself. In my perception, humans have evolved to survive both physically and emotionally. By using evidence-based tools such as EMDR and CBT I empower clients to find inside of themselves their own ways of independently navigating towards thriving.

Our thoughts are the result of a collection of stories and events that we have accumulated throughout our lives. They are the product of family, societal, and relationships experiences that are particular to each one of us. Not all of our stories are positive or normative, and therefore, our thoughts cannot be blindly believed in, but must be challenged. I use CBT to help clients find their true selves underneath unrealistic thoughts, reducing anxiety, depression, and trauma bonding beliefs.

What we don’t know about EMDR: How it works in the brain. What we do know about EMDR: It is an evidence-based therapy that works. After experiencing EMDR, clients report no longer having strong responses to traumatic memories and not entering survival mode when such memories are aroused by present life experiences. Clients report having a stronger ability to regulate their emotions and “living life” instead of “surviving” their past pains.

Trauma therapy:
I am a trauma-informed professional counselor who wholistic takes developmental experiences into account when providing treatment.
