About me

Healing from trauma, reclaiming power, growing from struggle and learning to work WITH emotions rather than AGAINST them are some of the goals I strive to support my clients in achieving. I have 9 years of extensive experience working with individuals, couples and families struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar, substance use, borderline personality disorder, dissociative identity disorder and schizophrenia. While I wish I had a time machine to help you go back and repair your past and set yourself up for the future you want, I will help you radically transform the story you tell yourself about your past and the meaning you make of some of your most painful experiences so that you can grow more present today and step into tomorrow with a perspective of optimism and openness.

My clinical practice incorporates a multipronged approach informed by a variety of treatment modalities. The practice of self-compassion and loving kindness plays a central role in dismantling the judgment, shame and self-blame that are so often the driving engines of depression, anxiety and psychosis. I draw upon Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to teach clients practical coping skills and effective communication skills. I turn to Psychodynamic Therapy and Somatic Experiencing to facilitate deep healing from the wounds of trauma and loss that are at the root of struggles with mood, stress, relationships and career. From Narrative Therapy, my clients learn to reclaim their power over the meaning of what they have been through and take ownership of their recovery. Techniques from existential therapy help my clients create or discover a renewed sense of purpose in their lives, the essence of what makes all of their struggles worth it. Positive Psychology practices such as the cultivation of gratitude, hope and self-esteem, give my clients the buoyancy to endure the challenges of their journey toward wellness of mind, body and spirit, inner peace and a life that feels fulfilling. In couples and family therapy I utilize Imago Dialogue to help clients communicate peacefully and constructively while cultivating compassion and empathy.
My years of experience as clinical supervisor of a mental health residential program as well as my years running mental health Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) have given me to work with clients with a broad spectrum of mental health struggles from depression and anxiety, to PTSD and bipolar, to borderline personality disorder and dissociative identity disorder, schizophrenia and substance use.
