About me
From time to time, life presents itself as a series of obstacles with some higher than others. I prefer to see problems as a positive challenge to embrace life and seek positive growth that we can do for ourselves. Seeking help is hard enough, and it's my job to ease the process by offering my clients a warm, empathetic, and safe place to address their challenges. If you are struggling with a particular issue, or prefer a safe place to express yourself, I am happy to help you explore your issues.
I have been a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina since 2007 (we were originally called Licensed Professional Counselors, but that changed a few years ago). During my career, I have worked with adolescents and adults. In any therapeutic interaction, it is important to initially develop a relationship with my clients to develop an environment that promotes empathy, understanding, and support. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, various approaches drawn from Narrative Therapy, Redecision Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing strategies. We will discuss these approaches to match your needs and preferences while we are in session together.
My areas of expertise include depression, anxiety, panic attacks, addiction, chronic pain and health issues, trauma, bereavement, disability-related issues, and adjusting to many of the challenges that life presents us. I use a client-centric approach (meaning YOU are the expert on you) that will allow you to identify your strengths and abilities.
I look forward to meeting you and speaking with you!
