About me
I am an experienced clinical social worker who has worked as a mental health health therapist from 2004 until 2019. After a three-year break, I have returned to seeing clients and am employed at Uzima Health Services, LLC in Boise. I have lived in Boise or the area since 1983. I have received training in cultural competence in mental health and have received a Certificate in Human Rights from Boise State University the end of April 2023. I specialize in trauma, loss and grief, and am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and DBT-Certified (DBT-C) therapist. I use EMDR and DBT-informed therapy, meaning that presently I do not use telephone coaching.
Therapy is a healing journey. My role in that process is to work collaboratively with you to identify struggles and issues, and agree upon a therapeutic approach to help create hope and achieve goals that will bring about positive life changes, such as emotional healing, resiliency, improved mood, increased self-esteem, personal insight and growth, increased self-determination, effective coping skills, improved interpersonal relationships, and an increased sense of empowerment. The Certificate in Human Rights I have from BSU adds to my ability to connect with people from a multicultural perspective and with cultural competence. I mostly use EMDR, CBT, ACT, DBT, Client-Centered Therapy, and Narrative Therapy in my practice. I am now offering a DBT Group, Grief Support Group for the Death of Loved Ones, and a Grief Support Group for Loss. I've had training in IFS which I integrate with other modalities for an eclectic approach.
