About me

It is my pleasure to work with adolescents, adults (individuals or couples), veterans, and active-duty military, as well as with groups. I enjoy collaborating with people of diverse racial, spiritual, and cultural backgrounds who have experienced trauma either in childhood, adulthood, or through the military service who are seeking a safe place to overcome life’s adversities, learn a new way to function, and live a victorious life.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

It is my personal belief and experience that people can overcome and change their life narrative after experiencing childhood adversities or trauma. It is possible to learn new ways of coping, connecting, and managing thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in our relationships with ourselves and others. Through my own personal trauma work, I have learned that if I put in the necessary work I could heal from the altered neurological connections in the brain as well as the long-term effects of disorganized or avoidant attachments that change how the mind, body, brain, and spirit experience life. New patterns of functioning can be created resulting in diverse ways to overcome uncomfortable emotions, behaviors, and thoughts. If I can do it; surely you can do it! There is no substitute for victory so call Renee Wilson with Victory Counseling Centers when you are ready to start learning to win at life in a wholesome, new, and exciting way.

My Background and Approach

Individual, couples, and group therapy are successfully conducted for substance abuse, anxiety, depression, ADHD, anger management, self-esteem, trauma- and stressor-related disorders, and PTSD utilizing evidence-based modalities including: Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy Informed Interventions, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and Emotional Freedom Techniques, Yoga, Tai Chi, and Qi Gong for the somatic residue of trauma. A typical therapy session includes the implementation of psychoeducation, role-playing, social skills, conflict resolution management, healthy coping skills, grounding skills, and problem-solving skills, along with the development of self-awareness, critical thinking, or effective communication techniques. I inspire all clients to take an active role in their own healing and growth.
