Verified clinicians have had their licenses confirmed by our staff at the time they create their profile. We also require all verified therapists keep their licensing information up to date in order to maintain verified status.
Send your prospective therapist a brief message about why you’re seeking support, your preference for in-person or telehealth services, and how you’d like to be contacted moving forward. Note: Answers to many common questions can be found on the therapist’s profile page. If this is an emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest hospital.
I am a Clinical Social Worker. I help African-American women utilize their strengths to transform their lives by implementing a client-centered approach to support their process of self-discovery to achieve their fullest potential.
While on this journey called life, we will experience some peaks, valleys, set-backs, detours, U-turns, and roadblocks. Sometimes, these changes can become difficult to manage and can cause us to just slow down or completely stop.
As we awaken each morning and prepare for our day, we sometimes carry additional mental weight that can negatively affect our mind, body, and spirit. This weight consists of feelings of fear, guilt, shame, grief, loss, abandonment, rejection, loneliness, anger, bitterness, worthlessness, worry, and/or hopelessness. As a result of these feelings, we work hard to present as if we are in control or “have it all together.” However, if we are honest with ourselves, we can acknowledge otherwise.
As a clinical social worker, I will support you with decreasing symptoms associated with mental health; increasing communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; discovering new ways to thinking; identifying and implementing coping strategies; psychoeducation; improving self-acceptance; understanding life’s purpose. This will be achieved through the use of evidenced-based therapies.
My therapeutic approach is client-centered which leads you to progress towards self-awareness. Conversely, it has been my experience that our thoughts can negatively affect our behaviors. As a result, this leads me to utilize cognitive-behavioral strategies support you in recognizing and addressing unhealthy thinking patterns. Currently, our society is riddled with situations and circumstances that lead to feelings of grief and loss. I can support you with understanding and coping with your loss.
My experience consists of over 13 years of combined, post-graduate experience providing social work, psychotherapy, and clinical services to adults in multiple settings. I earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland, University College and a Master of Social Work Degree from the University of Maryland, School of Social Work. Currently, I practice as a Licensed Certified Social Worker – Clinical in Maryland. In 2022, I completed the requirements to gain the status of Certified Grief Informed Professional through Evergreen Certifications. In 2020, I completed The Certificate Program in Advanced Trauma Treatment (Level 1) through the Ferentz Institute. In 2019, I completed The Substance Use Disorder and Treatment Certificate Program through the University of Maryland School of Social Work’s Office of Continuing Professional Education.
