I have spent a decade facilitating group work with women who had experienced trauma and abuse. My passion is to create an environment in which the stigma and silence surrounding abuse can be broken in the lives of those in our community. I have seen the freedom of healing that can be offered when people are supported by both individual and group therapy. I love working in a group setting because of the ability for attendees to be offered care from others with similar experiences. I focused my graduate work on expanding my knowledge of trauma and abuse. The goal is to bring into focus one's experience of familial, identity-based, religious, and social harms from a framework of one's attachment styles in current relationships. I work with others to identify healing experiences beyond talk therapy by integrating group work with a deeper awareness of one's somatic response to their history of trauma and abuse. I desire to create a safe place to explore the harm that you experienced.
I practice from both feminist and anti-oppression lenses in my work. None of us escape the damaging effects of white supremacy and patriarchal structures. I value the diversity and unique identity and experiences each of my clients brings into the room. We are all so much more than the labels we have been given. We are multi-dimensional. There is so much to each of us, so much below the surface that cannot be seen without taking the time to interact with one another. For example, if all you see is my picture, you cannot tell you that I have tremendous internal strength and resilience. You would not know that I am bisexual. Or know that being in nature is the best spiritual experience I can ever have. Or that I love to hike, bike, and kayak. That I love to read and learn or that I really, really love to nap. You cannot tell the scars that I carry on my body and in my heart. And you would not know my process of deconstructing my race, religion, gender, sexuality, age, and position of privilege. It is my constant desire to become a fuller version of who I was born to be. We all are so much more than is visible on the outside. I would be honored to be invited to get to know you and all that shaped you into the person you are today. I would like to walk with you as you take (or continue) your personal journey.
