About me
I have spent a decade facilitating group work with women who had experienced trauma and abuse. My passion is to create an environment in which the stigma and silence surrounding abuse can be broken in the lives of those in our community. I offer individual and group therapy because I have seen freedom and healing when people are supported by both individual and group therapy. I love working in a group setting because of the ability for attendees to be offered care from others with similar experiences. And I value individual therapy because of the safety afforded to wrestle with one’s reality.
I focused my graduate work on expanding my knowledge of trauma and abuse. I work to bring into focus one's experience of familial, identity-based, religious, and social influences within a framework of one's attachment styles in current relationships.
I practice from both feminist and anti-oppression lenses using a relational approach. I value the diversity and unique identity and experiences each of my clients brings into the room. We are all so much more than the labels we have been given. We all deserve to be supported in developing a sense of self rooted in choice and empowerment.
I work with clients to identify healing experiences beyond talk therapy by integrating a deeper awareness of one's somatic response to their history of trauma and abuse. I desire to create a safe place to explore the harm that you experienced. We were harmed in relationship and healing takes place in relationship. This is why therapy can be so powerful. We are multi-dimensional. There is so much to each of us, so much below the surface that cannot be seen without taking the time to interact with one another.
We have all been shaped by both our personal history and intergenerational history. I believe that who you are today is the result of all that has come before you. Anyone who would invest considerable time, energy, emotion, and money into therapy desires clarity and awareness. Oftentimes, clients have never been given a safe place to process the underlying reasons for the present-day issues. Nor have they been asked the right questions that would help them reflect on the joy and pain that was and is present. This is needed to develop a sense of self. I hope to be part of a client's journey toward being more fully who they were born to be.
My pronouns are she/her. I welcome all bodies, all abilities, all races & ethnicities, all religions, all sexual orientations, identities, and expressions, all countries of origin, and all people. Wherever you are at on your journey, I would be honored to be with you. I invite you to reach out for a consultation to see if we may be a good therapeutic fit.
