About me
Rachel Melvald is a practicing Psychotherapist with over 15 years of experience working with infants, children, adults, couples and families. In her training at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor outpatient and inpatient settings, Rachel developed her practice in a family systems-psychodynamic framework. During her work with the Department of Mental Health, Rachel has become familiar with the organizational system's impact on the mental health of the client. Her further training in Infant Mental Health and Attachment models further influenced her therapy practice to treat the client in the developmental trajectory.
Her certification in Somatic Experiencing has enhanced her practice to treat acute and developmental trauma. Combined studies in fine art/architecture with certification in Jungian Analytical studies, Rachel specializes in working with clients who want to improve the design and function of one's own environment while focusing on growing the inner life.
I have a core interest in working in the dyadic relationship. Working in an Object-Relations/Somatic Perspective based on experience with Attachment models, fostering healthy relationships template between caregiver and child as well as to transform a caregiver's own early relational experiences in Couples Therapy/Family Systems work is my specialization.
