About me
I have experience treating several areas that include but are not limited to Mood Disorders (Depression and Bi-Polar), Anxiety, PTSD, Personality Disorders, Psychotic Disorders, ADHD, and Behavioral Disorders of childhood/adolescence. Other areas that have been the focus of treatment include sexual/physical/emotional abuse, family of origin dysfunction, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, bereavement/grief and loss, LGBTQ/gender identity/sexual orientation, and coping with chronic physical and/or mental health problems.
I have a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the State of Illinois. My research background is in adolescent suicide research & prevention from Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center. I have taught Psychology at both Columbia College Chicago and Harold Washington College (City College of Chicago). My approach to therapy is integrative, combining psychodynamic theory and practice with Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral (DBT) therapies as well as Mindfulness Training. I believe that therapy is a personal journey and that it is important to meet clients respectfully and ethically where they are at. Therapy can be some of the most difficult work an individual may undertake, but it is incredibly rewarding as well. It is a privilege to work in this field and I look forward to each new encounter with a client.
