About me
I am an experienced nationally certified counselor who enjoys working with children of a vast array of diagnoses including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, trauma, sexual abuse, physical abuse, suicidality, autism, attention deficit hyperactive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, children of divorce, school avoidance, victims of bullying, problems with peers, sports performance, children of addictions, and learning/cognitive disabilities.
Every person has a story. My story began as a child when my family moved from New York City to central Pennsylvania, Loyalsock, which is a suburban community outside of Williamsport (well known for the Little League World Series). I experienced culture shock and trauma of 9/11, grew up in a military family, but combated these potential barriers by focusing on my passions of animals, gymnastics, and cheerleading. My dream has been to help individuals overcome obstacles or life's challenges by sharing tools and techniques I have used (or personalize techniques that will work for my clients) to help my community and surrounding communities.
Nicole Carrita has over twelve years of Mental Health experience in a vast array of environments including group homes for individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health diagnoses, residential homes for teenage girls of sexual abuse, inpatient hospitals, IBHS (formerly BHRS), Family Based, a juvenile detention center, community mental health, and several private practices. Through these experiences, Nicole learned about the Sanctuary Model, Ecosystems, 123 Magic, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Play Therapy. It was through this experiences, Nicole developed her passions of working with trauma and thus created the practice of Carrita Counseling. Educationally, Nicole attended Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with two emphases on Exercise Science and Special Education in 2011. She then attended Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania, where she received her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Child and Adolescent Counseling. She passed her National Counselor Exam (NCE) and received her National Certified Counselor status (NCC). She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP).
I provide counseling to a vast array of clientele including those struggling adjusting to life stressors, military families, veterans, depression, anxiety, domestic violence, narcissistic abuse, relapse prevention, and sexual abuse.
