About me
I am experienced in treating anxiety disorders, life transitions, relationship/marital issues, traumatic experiences, and the grief and loss process. I love utilizing my bilingual/ bicultural backgrounds as well as my Christian belief system while relying on my relational-intuitive-integrative approach to work with individuals on issues that are unique to their lives.
I am a living example of an adult child of alcoholics. I understand the pain of losses through my own grieving of multiple miscarriages. I struggled through many common problems in my marriage and have experienced despair, hopelessness, and being out of control. I was taught that there is much value in hard work, yet my anxious core — at one point — was debilitating and paralyzing. I can relate very well to the challenges of adapting to a new culture and living your life away from home. My core values as a Christian have been my guiding light through the many dark moments in my life. I am both a realist and a dreamer, and I do not stop dreaming. As a therapist, I do not stop believing in others' abilities to change and be transformed. I am aware that as much as I'd like to move others along the way, the process is just as valuable as the outcome, and I hope to be part of your process, however long it takes.
After graduating with a major in psychology and a minor in biblical studies, I worked in the social services field for 6 years providing home visits and parenting education to mothers in underserved communities. I then went on to finish my graduate training as a marriage and family therapist and worked in a children's mental health clinic for a few years, acquiring further clinical experience working with families and children. I eventually moved to a different clinic, working mainly with adults who struggled with addiction, domestic violence, trauma-related incidents, and legal issues. I am most passionate about the healing aspect of therapy, bringing people together and helping them face their traumas, losses, and brokenness. I have had countless successes in pointing individuals and families to HOPE and mobilizing them toward ACTIONS.
The best way to describe my style is intuitive, integrative, eclectic, and directive. I tailor my treatment approaches to my clients’ needs and goals. I am not afraid to "get in there" and go deep with my clients. I regularly check in with my clients on their progress in therapy and I am open to hearing about their experiences as well as feedback on how we can work better together. You are in charge of your therapy, and I am here to help you get to your goals. I will harbor no hard feelings should you decide to go with a different provider or approach, as I truly believe finding the right fit for your needs is instrumental to your healing. My ideal clients are those who are ready to work and make some radical changes in their lives.
