About me

I am the founder of the Psychotherapy and Transformational Movement with over twenty-four years of clinical experience. I am dedicated to helping individuals and couples cope with anxiety, depression, relationships issues.

As an immigrant, I embrace cultural diversity and the uniqueness of each individual. I promote courage, vulnerability, empathy, and self-compassion as a way of wholehearted living. As soon as I listened to Dr. Brené Brown TED talk, I became curious about her research on shame and vulnerability. In 2014 I completed the training with Brené Brown’s team and became a Certified Daring Way™ (CDWF). The Daring Way™ is a highly experiential methodology based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown of the University of Houston, which promotes wholehearted living and shame resilience.
In my work with couples, I help them to connect on a deeper emotional level. That led me to explore different modalities of building lasting relationships like Gottman Couples Therapy Training and Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT). In addition to my academic training, I embraced new modalities of treatment. Soon, I discovered that emotional memories are stored in the body and that they have specific ways of manifesting themselves. Based on my belief in the human body’s sensory intelligence and awareness, I discovered the power of movement to express emotions and to heal. My passion and love for emotional expression and movement led me to discover Nia. Through Nia intensive training, Nia continuing education, and Conscious Embodiment training, I have continued my professional and personal growth. My curiosity about the body’s capacity to help emotional healing helped me to explore and train in Body-Mind Psychotherapy (BMP). My interest in volunteering and appreciation of art led me to become a member of the Clinical Company for Erasing the Distance. Erasing the Distance is a non-profit arts organization based in Chicago that uses the power of performance to disarm stigma, spark dialogue, educate, and promote healing surrounding issues of mental health. I also volunteer at the Marjorie Kovler Center where I provide psychotherapy services for victims of torture as well as supervision for therapists. A year ago I joined the Board of Directors of Theater Y Chicago a free theater model to eliminate economic barriers. Theater Y “believes in pursuing radical, self-effacing, sacrificial love. We believe in staring down the ugliness of the truth and the ugliness in our own hearts” a mission that resonates with my own belief system. Recently I was nominated the Vice-President of the Board of Theater Y, a position that I accepted with honor.

In the summer of 2020, I felt an urgent need to give voice to the unheard voices. That led to founding ARCHER-American Romanian Coalition for Human and Equal Rights together with some fellow Romanians. At ARCHER archercoalition.org, we champion sharing meaningful stories and ideas to build cultural understanding and racial, ethnic, gender, and sexual identity acceptance and inclusion. Through open and honest conversations we examine our diverse cultural, personal, and professional experiences to explore and understand our own biases. We actively develop a cultural understanding of racial, ethnic, gender, and sexual identity inequities to facilitate acceptance and inclusion in our personal actions and communities. In my free time, I love to spend time with family and friends, dance, listen to music, read, travel, be present in the Romanian community, and get involved in women’s rights activism.
