I am an experienced Clinical Social Worker with one foot in clinical work and the other in cutting-edge research. First and foremost, I believe in creating a safe therapeutic atmosphere to build a sense of safety and rapport. specialize in collaborating with clients to achieve their goals regarding drug and alcohol use. I am an intuitive, eclectic, and emotionally-focused therapist well-versed in co-occurring disorders, addressing complex trauma, and take a harm-reduction approach to recovery, meaning that I support the use of Medication Assisted Treatment (I.e. outpatient buprenorphine) which has been proven a strong weapon in our arsenal to reduce cravings. I use motivational interviewing, CBT. DBT, and many other frameworks to encourage positive change. My research and clinical interests include suicidology, the use of technology as an adjuvant to traditional treatment models, and the role biases and internalized stigma influence treatment engagement.
I currently work at Michigan Medicine as a clinical research therapist and at an agency in Southeastern Michigan that serves people with criminal justice involvement. I received my undergraduate degree (BA Hons.) in Philosophy and the Honors Great Books Program. I got my MSW specializing in mental health and chemical dependency in 2020 followed by a post-masters graduate certificate in Drug and Alcohol Counseling from Wayne State University in 2021
