MEGAN COOPER, LCSW
Verified clinicians have had their licenses confirmed by our staff at the time they create their profile. We also require all verified therapists keep their licensing information up to date in order to maintain verified status.
Send your prospective therapist a brief message about why you’re seeking support, your preference for in-person or telehealth services, and how you’d like to be contacted moving forward. Note: Answers to many common questions can be found on the therapist’s profile page. If this is an emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest hospital.
I am an individual therapist serving adults and adolescents with a focus on anxiety, depression, eating disorders / body image, and trauma.
I have always identified with the people that are the underdogs of their own stories; people-pleasers, perfectionists, overachievers, people that have been "othered" by their peers and are just trying to find a way to be accepted, people whose worlds have changed because of what they've been through (and may still be going through), people who are ready to create meaningful change in their life. I have found real purpose in being able to listen to someone's else's stories and connect with them in a healing way through conversations. I truly enjoy getting to meet all types of people and learning from them every day.
My work as a therapist is rooted in a belief that people can learn to change their lives for the better, an appreciation for the diversity of human experiences, and a deep respect for what it means to trust someone else. I studied Psychology and Social Work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH) and have a wide variety of work and volunteer experiences. My passion is helping people directly, with a focus on adults and adolescents.
My work primarily draws from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and other modalities. I am always learning something new about clinical skills. I have a special interest in eating disorders and body image, anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
In my personal life, I enjoy going for walks outside, reading, occasional window shopping, spending time with my family / friends / cats, watching TV shows, trying new foods, and getting to know the ins and outs of my new home location in Pittsboro, NC. I participate in volunteer work from time to time and attend some improv comedy classes.
