Mental health therapist working with children, adolescents, and adults from a strength-based approach.
Marya Johanneson earned her Master’s in Counseling and Psychological Services from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota in 2021 and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Northern Illinois University in 1995. She is a pre-licensed therapist in the process of obtaining her licensure to practice as a Clinical Professional Counselor (LPCC). Marya has been working for the last 20 years in the field of Human Resources, most recently as Director of Human Resources for a retail company. She also has extensive experience in the health and wellness field as a Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Group Fitness Instructor and Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher and meditation teacher.
Marya has experience working with children, adolescents and adults with ADHD, sensory problems, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, separation and divorce issues, and job-related concerns. She is passionate about helping people manage stress and develop resilience through all stages of life. Marya enjoys working with adolescents and young adults but is open to seeing children, adults and couples. She employs a client-centered approach that integrates techniques from evidence-based treatment modalities including Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as well as Solution-Focused Therapy and Mindfulness based strategies.
