I am a licensed mental health therapist practicing in Florida with an extensive background in multiple areas. The client-centered approach has been most effective in achieving the goals of my clients. My education has currently drawn me to developmental psychology; which I will be receiving my 2nd Masters. Understanding the stages of life assists in understanding the present behaviors of my clients. I work with adults and have expertise in addictions, mood disorders, LGBTQ issues to name a few. I have worked with the court systems (e.g., Drug Court, Probation, Incarcerations); which provides insight if needed.

Mary Skinner is a mental health therapist licensed in the State of Florida, with an extensive background in multiple areas. Her academic career and personal life have blended from multiple areas; living abroad and working as a HS teacher and attending studies in Early Childhood education; Argosy University obtaining BA in Psychology (2010); Walden University graduating with an MS in Mental Health Counseling (2014). Currently, Mary has been drawn to developmental psychology and will be graduating summer of 2022; which will be her 2nd Masters degree. Understanding the stages of life assists in accepting the present behaviors of clients.

Mary has a wide range of work experience (e.g., HS School Teacher, Addictions Counselor, Hospitality, Hospital Admin Asst, Ofc Mgr); which has added to cultural sensitivity expertise as well as a holistic counseling approach. She finds the client-centered approach has been most effective in achieving the goals of clients. Mary’s expertise is also wide range, such as in addictions, mood disorders, LGBTQ issues to name a few. In addition, she has worked with the court systems (e.g., Drug Court, Probation, Incarcerations); which provides insight if needed.

Therapeutic rapport is built from and in a non-judgmental, unbiased, and confidential atmosphere; which is an important component to Mary’s counseling approach. She has many techniques/methods in my therapeutic toolbox, and has found mindfulness, meditation, and mantras to be effective in numerous disorder spectrums.
