Marisa Yerkes, MSW Intern
I am an MSW Intern therapist offering reduced fee sessions with immediate weekend availability
We all tell ourselves stories, imagining narratives based on our experiences. “I’m crazy.” “I’m dumb.” “This is my fault.” “There’s something wrong with me.” I challenge those narratives, and I challenge you to re-write your own story. I believe you are capable of reclaiming your life, and living in a way that honors the strong, resilient, and whole person that you are. Despite obstacles, tragedies, or difficulties that persist, I see the innate goodness and strength that lies inside each and every one of us. I believe that every person, no matter their circumstances, is capable of healing, and finding safety and comfort in their internal world.
My goal as a therapist is to walk alongside you in your own personal journey of healing and lend my support along the way. I have been trained in a wide variety of therapeutic tools, incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, internal family systems (IFS), and others in my daily practice. I have a strength based, empowerment approach.
I have several years of experience working with a wide diversity of people, including survivors of violence, people experiencing homelessness, LGBTQ+ folks, refugees, veterans, and families. I strive to create an open, affirming environment for all, as I understand that there is no one type of person who is affected by difficulty in life or trauma, it affects us all. If you feel driven to re-write your story and choose a different path, please reach out to see how we may work together on your journey.
