About me
I have been providing high-quality mental health services to adults, young adults, teens 16+ and couples since 2008. My approach is warm, creative, and grounded in mindfulness. I collaborate with clients to discover solutions to issues through insight and the development of skills to increase psychological flexibility and happiness.
I am a board certified and licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (CA license #79788) with an emphasis on adult and adolescent (16+) individuals and couples. I am licensed in California and have been providing support, counseling and coaching to clients since 2008.
In my 13 years of professional counseling experience I have worked in a variety of settings including 5+ years as Assistant Director of Counseling at a graduate school (medicine, pharmacy, nursing, PA), in an undergraduate counseling center, with Hospice, in a community-based Family Counseling Center and Transitional Age Clinic, and in private practice.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked in the business/investment field which helps me relate to the special challenges and pressures faced in high-demand fields.
It is my goal as a therapist to assist others in tapping into their personal power, thereby increasing their ability to reach their full potential. I am trained as a generalist and can support clients with a range of presenting concerns, but some areas of specialty include:
Pandemic fatigue
Relationship Issues
Grief, loss and death
Anxiety, panic and stress reduction
Trauma resolution (including PTSD)
Mood stabilization (depression and mood fluctuations)
Self-esteem
Adjustment to college or graduate school
Adults launching
Attending to the mind/body connection
Parenting support and coaching
Spirituality and life purpose
Life transitions
Divorce
Issues of identity (sexuality, gender, life purpose)
My approach is integrative, active and solution-focused. I am guided by a strengths-based perspective, operating with the understanding that people are capable of initiating positive changes in their lives given the right environment and support. While the course of therapy depends on many variables, I am committed to working with care, efficiency and an intensity that can help reduce or alleviate symptoms in as short a time as possible. I believe change and healing comes from a combination of insight and action that happens in the context of trust, safety, choice, compassion and connection. My mission as a therapist is to meet clients where they are, build trust and act as a guide in pursuit of goals.
I'm an integrative therapist, which means that I draw from several different psychotherapy orientations. My work is informed by
modalities including IFS (Internal Family Systems), Hakomi and other mind-body approaches, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and mindfulness practices. I tailor sessions to the particular needs and goals of each individual. This flexible approach helps reveal the dynamics that are unique to an individual's situation which may be creating obstacles to living their best life. Together, we identify these obstacles, assess their impact and resolve them directly.
Clients describe living with more confidence, joy, courage and authenticity as they let go of limiting beliefs and behaviors, and integrate the benefits from our sessions back into their daily lives. I can help people reduce anxiety, stress and the effects of grief and trauma as well as support them through a life transition to find greater meaning, purpose and passion in life. Whether you want to heal from past experiences, develop tools to prosper or reach a specific goal, we work collaboratively.
