I am a dedicated and authentic Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I am experienced in working with clients overcome depression, anxiety and trauma. I have also extensive experience working with children and adolescent mental and behavioral health.
Too often, we are taught to suppress our emotions and keep going. We may feel that addressing our past and daily challenges are too painful to conquer. I completely understand and agree that taking the steps to heal can seem daunting. I am here to not only support you in the process, but to protect you while doing so. It takes courage, commitment and perseverance to break the chains that may hinder you from being the person you desire. The name of my practice is Truth in Healing, LLC, because I am aware of and acknowledge all it takes to go on this journey of self-healing.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have worked primarily with children, adolescents and parents throughout my career. I have a Bachelors in Child Development and Family Studies and a Masters in Social Work. Before becoming a therapist, I worked in child protection, various residential treatment facilities for adolescents, the medical system as a hospital social worker and more recently, as an independent contractor providing therapy to children and families in their homes. The strengthening of self through emotional intelligence, healing trauma and building a sense of competency is my overall mission.
I am specifically trained in Psychotherapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). I also pull from various treatment modalities such as motivational interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), family systems theory, mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), art therapy, attachment based therapy, and somatic experiencing.
