I am a licensed psychologist who aims to improve the lives of individuals struggling with the after-effects of trauma.
Hello! My name is Dr. Lindsay Murn and I am a Licensed Psychologist in the State of Minnesota. I am also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and Master Certified Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) Practitioner. I received my Bachelors degree in Psychology from St. Cloud State University, and a masters degree in Educational Psychology and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Counseling Psychology from Oklahoma State University. I have over 13 years of clinical and assessment experience with diverse populations across four states. In addition, I have worked with adolescents, young adults, college students, older adults, couples, and groups in community mental health centers, juvenile treatment facilities, college counseling centers, and group/private practices.
My clinical specialties include treating trauma (including, but not limited to, past physical/sexual abuse, sexual or intimate partner violence, accidents, death/loss, significant life disruptions), depression, anxiety, body image and eating concerns, self-worth, interpersonal concerns, life transitions, and work stress and burnout. I also provide psychological testing and professional development trainings and workshops. I have experience teaching a variety of college courses, presenting research at regional, state, and national conferences, conducting continuing education trainings for mental health professionals and practitioners, delivering psychoeducational presentations for higher education faculty and staff, and supervising and training novice mental health practitioners and counselors. My research interests include sexual violence, self-compassion, and therapy outcomes.
Outside of work, I enjoy being outdoors, reading, traveling, and spending time with my husband, cats, and turtle.
I use an integrative approach to therapy, guided by psychodynamic theory and several evidence-based and trauma-informed treatments. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and my primary treatment approach is an eye movement therapy called Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). My clients have seen remarkable results in a short period of time for a wide range of concerns, and I know it can help you, too!
I aim to create a compassionate and collaborative space where, together, we can explore painful or traumatic experiences and resolve them, better understand unhealthy life patterns, and identify solutions to current problems. I believe that the insight you will gain through therapy is a catalyst for finally healing from trauma, restoring autonomy, achieving balance, and improving your overall well-being.
