About me
I am a dedicated mental health therapist who meets you where you are in your healing journey; coping with the many seasons of life alongside anxiety, depression, anger, or overall mental wellbeing (and more).
My name is Leena Abushanab, Clinical Counselor with Magnolia Counseling. I am a counselor specializing in clinical mental health with Masters in clinical psychology and have obtained my Masters degree from Benedictine University in Lisle, IL. I value holistic healing, self-care, and self discovery, Obtaining holistic healing for our mental health can be one of the greatest methods of self care. My belief is that all humans have a light within them that can sometimes be diminished by the trials of life; this light can be brought out by the help of another.
It is my job as a counselor to remind the person who is suffering that they have the power to heal. I am a bilingual counselor, I speak Arabic; my counselor style consists of CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, Person Centered, DBT informed, and Narrative Therapy. There is no one size fits all approach, & it is my goal to meet every client where they are at.
To me, this means there are many different avenues for relief for our issues and I strive to be at least one of the avenues of comfort to another person’s struggle or difficulties. My favorite quotes is “Be the moon in somebody's night. Be the ease during someone’s hardship” – Yasmin Mogahed. This is about you and your journey, so let’s get started.
