Laurissa Hampton, LPC

I am a licensed professional counselor in NJ (LPC) and NY (LMHC) with an additional certification as a clinical trauma professional (level I) and over 10 years of experience in the field of counseling. I am dedicated to helping adults, adolescents and children to cope with anxiety and depression in addition to helping individuals overcome the effects of trauma.

I believe that we are all simply human, striving to live the best life we can live in a beautiful but challenging world. You may find that “life lessons”, patterns and beliefs that you have developed from your journey have both accelerated you toward success, resilience and productivity, while simultaneously impairing your relationships, ability to develop authentic happiness and achievement of your true potential. I work to provide a safe and supportive space to allow your story to be heard while exploring patterns and habits of behavior that may have developed along the way.
My therapeutic approach is warm, compassionate, and client centered. I believe that you are the expert in your own life and that you alone hold the answers within. I use a variety of therapeutic techniques to support my clients and I tailor my approach to each individual’s unique needs.

I like to use an integrated approach in my therapeutic process. I feel that for optimal mental health, a whole person approach is necessary while remaining client centered. This means that if support is desired in the areas of nutrition, physical wellness, social support and coping skills development I can help support growth in these areas to further support processing feelings and working to alleviate mental health symptoms.
