About me
Kim McFarland is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), who works with client populations ages 12 and up to assist clients in reaching their mental health goals. Kim believes everyone can benefit from mental health therapy services and she understands asking for help is one of the hardest parts of getting started in therapy. Kim encourages anyone thinking about therapy to call and speak with her to determine how she may be able to help.
Kim works in Community Mental Health and in Private Practice. She is a National Board Certified Counselor, (NCC), issued by National Board of Certified Counselors and an Approved Counseling Supervisor (ACS), issued by National Board of Certified Counselors, for limited licensed counselor seeking supervision and licensure.
Kim also holds the following training certifications Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor, (CAADC), issued by Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals. Certified Anger Resolution Therapist, (CART), issued by The Anger Management Training Institute. Dialectical Behavior Therapist-Certified (DBTC) issued by Dialectical Behavior Therapy National Certification and Accreditation Association with Evergreen Certifications. Certified Clinical Trauma Professional Level II (CCTP-II), issued by Evergreen Certifications. Certified Compassion Fatigue Professional (CCFP), issued by Evergreen Certifications. Certified Personality Disorder Treatment Provider, (C-PD), issued by Evergreen Certifications. Kim also has training in Prolonged Exposure through the Center for Treatment and the Study of Anxiety from the University of Pennsylvania. Kim believes in having training in specific areas is important in providing effective therapeutic approaches.
Kim holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from The University of Michigan in Psychology and Master of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University.
Kim is available to present trainings on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). Kim is also available for LLPC supervisees.
In her spare time Kim enjoys reading, writing, painting, and attending mental health training and conferences.
