About me

I am an experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in working with adults and young adults struggling with substance abuse, anxiety, depression, anger management, and attachment style-related disorders.

Hello and Welcome! My name is Kathleen Monroe and I possess a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago and am licensed in Clinical Social Work in the state of Illinois. In addition; I hold a Certification as an Alcohol and other Drug Abuse Counselor.

I have been working in the counseling field since 2014. Clients that I have worked with struggled in areas of mental health and substance abuse ranging in diagnoses of Anxiety, Depression, Post-traumatic stress disorder, Addiction related disorders, Learning disabilities, behavioral spectrum disorders, Autism, Adjustment disorders.

During my time within this field, I have experience working within a variety of settings providing me with sensitivity towards various socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic groups of ages ranging from children, teens, adults, families, and couples. I am an eclectic therapist, meaning that not everyone is the same and I adapt my treatment techniques based on my client’s goals and needs. My approach many times combines client-centered, narrative, behavioral, humanistic, and existential theories using evidence-based techniques drawn from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), and solution-focused therapy.

Every individual has the power to change and I would like to be that link towards helping them gain strengths back in their lives. I take a direct strengths-based approach while helping my clients feel comfortable to personalize how they would like to address their concerns and set their own pace for meeting their treatment goals.

Life can be difficult and taking the first step of reaching out for help shows great strength and courage. I am here to assist with guiding you through this difficult time in a judge-free and confidential manner.
