About me
I am an experienced licensed professional clinical counselor who enjoys working with women and committed to helping them cope with anxiety, depression, self-worth issues and anger through empowerment, self-exploration and skill building.
I am a licensed professional clinical counselor who has been working in the field of mental health for the past 20+ years. I have been licensed for the past 8 years and has worked in a variety of settings including residential treatment, crisis, outpatient therapy and community support programs such as a psychosocial drop-in center. I have worked in outpatient mental health therapy the past 10+ years and have worked with a variety of age groups, from age 11 years and up. My focus has primarily been working with adults who are experiencing serious and persistent mental illness. I focus on utilizing person centered therapy, along with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and a strengths-based approach. I also have a certificate in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and can assist clients with working on distress tolerance, mindfulness, emotion regulation and interpersonal effectiveness skills. Other techniques I like to incorporate involve music and lyrics, solution-focused therapy and art/craft-based techniques.
My mission is to empower and educate. I enjoy building relationships with clients and helping them achieve their goals. My style of counseling is focused on self-exploration and increasing an individual's level of understanding around their current life circumstances, as well as their behaviors and reactions to those circumstances. Through the development of a safe and nurturing relationship, together we can diminish self-destructive behaviors and patterns, strengthen relationships and build confidence. I strive to create a safe and healing space using a non-judgmental, empathetic and supportive approach in therapy.
My particular interest and experience include working with women, self-worth/self-esteem, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, stress, sleep, trauma, body image issues, anger management, hoarding and overwhelming emotions.
In my free time, I like to spend her time with her dog, family and significant other. I enjoy traveling and exploring, as well as live music, watching movies/tv and taking my dog to the lake.
