About me

I am a compassionate therapist dedicated to helping individuals navigate anxiety, trauma, and life transitions, with a focus on LGBTQIA and women's issues.

Sure, here’s an extended draft for the "About Me" section, providing a comprehensive overview of Jonelle Edwards, her practice, and what she offers to prospective clients:

Welcome! I’m Jonelle Edwards, a compassionate and dedicated therapist committed to supporting individuals through life's challenges. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, trauma, or significant life changes, I'm here to help you navigate your journey towards healing and personal growth.

*My Approach*

I believe in a client-centered, collaborative, and inclusive approach to therapy. I understand that each person's experience is unique, and I tailor my therapeutic methods to meet your individual needs. My goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where you can explore your emotions, build resilience, and develop coping strategies.

I specialize in working with individuals who are feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, trauma, and major life transitions. I am particularly passionate about supporting the LGBTQIA community and women facing societal pressures, relationship challenges, and self-esteem issues. My approach is designed to empower you and help you find your strengths, fostering a greater sense of self-worth and confidence.

*Therapeutic Modalities*

In my practice, I integrate a variety of evidence-based therapies to support your healing process, including:

- Art Therapy: As a Clinical Art Therapist (ATR-P), I utilize art therapy to help clients express emotions and experiences that might be difficult to articulate with words. This creative approach can facilitate deeper understanding and promote healing.

- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): Trained in DBT theory and methods, I incorporate DBT tools to help clients develop skills in mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.

- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): EMDR is a powerful tool for processing traumatic memories and reducing emotional distress. I use EMDR in conjunction with other therapies to support clients struggling with anxiety, trauma, and stress.

*Experience and Background*

Before becoming a therapist, I worked within the arts industry. This experience has enriched my ability to see and understand people from diverse perspectives, and it continues to inform my therapeutic approach. My background in the arts provides a unique lens through which I view the therapeutic process, allowing me to incorporate creativity and innovation into our sessions.

- Master of Arts in Art Therapy, St. Mary of the Woods College
- Registered Clinical Art Therapist, Provisional (ATR-P)
- Associate Clinical Mental Health Counselor (ACMHC), Utah
- Trained in EMDR and DBT

*What to Expect*

In our sessions, you can expect a blend of compassion, creativity, and evidence-based practices. I offer individual psychotherapy sessions both in-person and virtually, providing flexibility to meet your needs. Together, we will explore your emotions, build resilience, and develop strategies to navigate life's challenges. My goal is to support you every step of the way, helping you achieve profound personal growth and meaningful change.

I am a firm believer in the power of authenticity, compassion, and human connection to drive personal growth and healing. As an ally and advocate for the LGBTQIA community, I strive to create an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone feels valued and understood. I am dedicated to social justice and actively believe that everyone deserves equitable access to mental health care.

Outside of therapy, I volunteer with local organizations focused on mental health awareness. I also enjoy engaging in creative arts, which continues to inform my therapeutic approach. My goal is to help you find your authentic self, embrace your strengths, and navigate life’s challenges with confidence.
