About me
I am a pragmatic, results-driven counselor with 15 years experience. I lead a group practice of 20+ dedicated therapists.
Often, clients first come to Jon feeling overwhelmed, stuck in unhelpful patterns, or unsure how to navigate a challenging season. His work focuses on helping people gain perspective, develop a plan, and move toward meaningful change with steadiness and clarity.
Jon’s clinical style is warm, pragmatic, and shaped by years of supporting individuals, couples, and families in both therapeutic and pastoral settings.
In addition to being a counselor, he served for six years in adult ministries at Willow Creek Community Church, which strengthened his ability to hold complex stories, guide difficult conversations, and support people through transition and stress. Influenced by contemplative voices like Thomas Merton, Martin Laird, and Ignatius of Loyola, Jon’s work balances reflective depth with clear, actionable next steps.
Jon is one of two owners of White Stone Counseling Resources, a Christian counseling center that partners with local churches to provide excellent, faith oriented professional counseling services. On staff are 20+ experienced licensed counselors.
Jon works with adults and couples. He has particular experience supporting:
Men who feel stuck in cycles or habits that limit growth
Young adults navigating transition, identity, or stress
Couples seeking communication and reconnection
Individuals facing anxiety, depression, burnout, or spiritual concerns
Those connected to adoption (identity, family dynamics, adjustment)
At home, Jon is a husband and dad to four children—two biological and two adopted from South Korea—which continues to shape his understanding of family systems and adoption-related work. He enjoys cooking, baking, and the occasional game of Dungeons and Dragons with neighbors and friends.
Professional training:
Jon is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. He holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University and a B.S. in Psychology from Loyola University Chicago. He continues to support local churches through teaching, workshops, and coaching.
