About me
Jimmy Garcia is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist in California. Mr. Garcia believes that psychotherapy is related to the process of healing. Healing of the spirit, healing of the soul, and healing of the body. Sometimes, to heal we need to change certain patterns, certain behaviors, and sometimes certain beliefs. Mr. Garcia believes in the process of change, but he does not believe he has the power to change anyone. Change is a shared process in which the therapist provides guidance and the client makes the decisions regarding the changes necessary for your own healing. As the client, you have the right to be listened to and to express your feelings. As the therapist, Mr. Garcia will attempt to understand the issues that bring you to therapy and guide you about your concerns. To do so, he asks open-ended, non-judgmental questions, to help you discover your own path.
Therapeutic Modalities
Mr. Garcia has an eclectic approach to treatment. However, he has received training in the following therapeutic modalities: Crisis intervention, Substance Use Disorder, psychoeducation, Gottman couples counseling Level 1, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), client-centered therapy, solution focus therapy, and trauma-focused cognitive therapy. In addition, Mr. Garcia is a certified Domestic Violence facilitator. Mr. Garcia has also been a missionary, pastor and has been trained in conducting Christian counseling. Mr. Garcia enjoys spending time with his family and doing fun activities with my wife.
